Not just your average overhead doors, the Shell Aerospace Hangar located in Edmonton, Alberta is a large-scale project that will support the Edmonton International Airport’s ability to service Edmonton’s growing industrial charter business.
The Door
Aerocentre 2 will be a premier facility offering 43,000 square feet of hangar space at the Edmonton International Airport. Creative Door is proud to work with Petra Holdings Ltd. of Leduc Alberta to provide the assembly and installation of the overhead doors for this high profile project.
The project is in a league of its own for our Creative Door team, and they were up for the challenge! The sheer size and complexity of this project speaks volumes for the level of skill required by our build and installation team. Each Norco hangar door weighs approximately 2,500 pounds and is composed of six separate blades measuring in at a whopping 110 feet wide by 28 feet high after installation.

The Details
The six blade components are delivered to the site as separate pieces where our experts then build the doors at ground level and proceed to hang them on previously installed tracks. This build-first-hang-later style of installation takes great precision and elevates this project to a whole new level.
So far so good, with timelines, build, and installation expectations being met at each milestone laid out by Petra Holdings. The project is ongoing, and we are just about to begin the electrical work.
Another satisfied client and a job well done by the Creative Door team.
