You’ve done your research, looked online until your eyes tired, and browsed through countless pages of garage door styles, colours, and designs. But alas, you found The One—the garage door of your home’s dreams. All you need to do is get it installed.
Simple enough right? Not exactly.
At Creative Door, we love helping you find the right garage door for your home. But our work isn’t complete until we’ve expertly installed it. For the most part, you can just sit back and let our experienced technicians get to work. However, it’s important that you know how the installation will proceed. This will help ensure that everything runs smoothly.
The pre-installation check
This is the first step in the installation process. Because every garage is different, we’ll need to come inspect the site and gather all the information and measurements we need to ensure your customized installation goes as well as possible.
Scheduling the installation
Once the pre-installation check is complete, we’ll schedule your installation for a day that works with your availability.
You must be there on the day of the installation so that we can access your garage.
TIP: Once your installation is scheduled, mark it in your calendar and/or set a reminder alert on your phone so you don’t forget.
Preparing your garage for the installation
For our technicians to install your garage door properly, they need to be able to work in a safe environment. Before our team arrives, make sure you remove anything that could get in their way and provide them with a clean, clutter-free space. Otherwise, the installation may need to be postponed.
In addition, our installers will need access to a power source, preferably a direct one as extension cords can pose a safety risk.
What to expect from our installation team
When you work with Creative Door, you can rest assured that our certified and experienced technicians are qualified to install, repair and maintain any type of garage door.
After we install your door, we’ll inspect it thoroughly to ensure that it’s working optimally and presents no safety concerns. We’ll also answer any questions you have. And, if there’s anything you forget to ask, we’re just a call away.
At most Creative Door locations, cleanup and disposal of your old garage door is included in the installation service But please get in touch with your local branch to confirm and for more information.
Understanding the installation warranty
Every garage door you purchase from us comes with the same installation warranty and covers the following:
- Installation defects, for up to one year after the installation date
- Service or repair defects, for up to 30 days following a service appointment
- Garage door part defects, for up to 90 days following the date of purchase
- Missing parts or hardware
Note that you also have a separate manufacturer’s warranty for your garage door. It’s provided by the company that manufactured it, either Wayne Dalton, Richards-Wilcox, or Martin Door. The manufacturer’s warranty covers defects and issues in the materials and workmanship of the garage door itself.
On the Creative Door website, you’ll find a direct link to the manufacturer’s warranty on the product pages for almost all the doors we carry. Many of these warranties, as well as our installation warranty, are also collected on a single page on our website.

Maintaining your new garage door
Even when they’ve been expertly installed, garage doors require annual maintenance. It isn’t hard to see why. They’re made of countless moving parts and most people open and close their garage well over a thousand times every year.
It’s recommended that you have your garage door serviced at least once a year. This helps keep repair costs to a minimum, extend the life of your door, and ensure that it doesn’t break at an inconvenient moment. We recommend signing up for our planned maintenance program. This allows you to have your garage door inspected and repaired regularly at discounted service rates.
There’s also a lot you can do yourself to help maintain your garage door, including cleaning it regularly, lubricating the moving parts and detecting and troubleshooting any unusual noises.
